Flatiron Books editorial director Colin Dickerman will move over within Macmillan to Farrar, Straus as vp and executive editor as of September 18. Dickerman had already acquired and edited some fiction for FSG, including Paul Beatty's Booker-winning The Sellout, since when he first joined Flatiron it was a nonfiction line. Flatiron founder Bob Miller said, "I'm so grateful to Colin for being such an important part of the first four years of Flatiron Books. We'll miss him here, but we're glad he'll still be part of the Macmillan family, and we wish him the best of luck at FSG."

Literary publicist Kathleen Carter Zrelak has founded Kathleen Carter Communications, working with authors, publishers, and agents. Currently vp, director of publicity at Goldberg McDuffie, where she has worked for more than 11 years, Zrelak will leave the firm December 1 and continue to work with them "on select projects" thereafter.

Lucinda Karter has joined the Jennifer Lyons Literary Agency as an agent and foreign rights director. She has been the director of the French Publishers' Agency for the past 15 years, where she will remain part-time.

Ann Leslie Tuttle will join Dystel, Goderich & Bourret this fall as an agent. She was senior editor at Harlequin.

At Crown Publishing Group, Morgan Carattini has been promoted to senior publishing manager. Rebecca Welbourn has been promoted to publishing manager for Crown, Archetype, Hogarth, Tim Duggan Books, Broadway Books, and Three Rivers Press. Gwyneth Stansfield will join as assistant director of publicity for Crown, Hogarth, Tim Duggan Books, and Broadway Books starting September 11. Previously she was publicity manager at Blue Rider Press and Plume.

At Penguin Random House's publishing development and author platforms group, Alison Rich has been promoted to senior vice president for publishing development and author platforms; Rachael Perriello moves up to director of licensing and business development; Stephanie Bowen becomes senior manager for content development; and Phillip Stamper-Halpin has been promoted to senior manager for publishing development and author platforms.

Estelle Hallick has joined Grand Central's Forever as senior marketing & publicity associate. She was previously at Workman.

Jenny Choy joins Abrams Children's in the new role of associate director of school & library marketing. She was at Little, Brown Children's.

Courtney Gillette has been promoted to awards and relationships manager at the National Book Foundation.

joining The Paris Review as web editor for their online Daily.

Longtime publisher of Heyne and board member of Random House Germany Ulrich Genzler has decided to retire on October 15, after a 33-year career in publishing. Editorial director for fiction at Heyne Tilo Eckardt will succeed Genzler as both Heyne publisher and board member.

Amazon announced plans for their first fulfillment center in New York state, a 855,000-square-foot facility in Staten Island -- where more than 2,250 full-time humans will "engage with" a robot army "to pick, pack and ship customer items such as household essentials, books and toys."

Forthcoming
As you would have expected, Scholastic says they will publish the companion title to the forthcoming British Library exhibit, Harry Potter: A Journey Through a History of Magic. They will release the book on October 20, when the show opens in London -- and the exhibition itself will come to the New-York Historical Society a year later, in October 2018.

Withdrawn
Abingdon Press has discontinued sales of Rev. Bill Shillady's August release, Strong for a Moment Like This: The Daily Devotions of Hillary Rodham Clinton (he is her longtime pastor), because of extensive plagiarism. President and publisher of The United Methodist Publishing House Rev. Brian Milford says they conducted "an extensive review" after initial an initial example of copying was found by CNN and were "alarmed to discover other content unattributed by the author." Milford said in his statement. "Abingdon Press has zero tolerance for plagiarism. Consequently, we have discontinued sales, will remove existing copies from all sales outlets, and will have them destroyed along with our existing inventory."

Shillady said, "I deeply regret my actions.I was wrong and there is no excuse for it. I apologize to those whose work I mistakenly did not attribute. I apologize to those I have disappointed, including Secretary Hillary Clinton, Abingdon Press, and all the writers and others who have helped me publish and promote this book. I ask for everyone's forgiveness."
