SCULPTURE @ MIRANDA

Outdoor sculpture exhibitions have become hugely popular in New Zealand in recent years, some permanent like the Brick Bay Sculpture Walk an hour north of Auckland, while others like the Waiheke Island Exhibition and Sculpture on the Peninsular outside Christchurch are held every two years.

The latest is Sculpture @ Miranda which will be held 5 - 26 January 2008. Set in farmland on the Firth of Thames at 1107 Miranda Road, 14 kilometres off State Highway Two. Open daily 10.00am-3.00pm.

Among the NZ sculptors exhibiting are Michael Smither (illustrated left above), Roger Hickin (illustrated right), Neil Miller, Wailin Elliott, Steve Woodward, Nick Dryden and Eric Omundson.

The exhibition is the brainchild of organic farmer Annie Wilson, enquiries to 09 232 7933.

Holiday makers returning from the Coromandel might like to return home by the picturesque Miranda route rather than the usual motorway scramble, take in the exhibition as a welcome break from the trip and perhaps try the renowned fish & chips at Kaiaua not far away.
